Goals

In life we all have goals some simpler than others. By choosing a goal that you not only believe in but knowing the steps and having the will to fulfill them make us happier. When our goals are unreasonable we create added stress to our own lives. By being able to manage our time and goals not only are we working towards these goals but but we are happier because we can see the progress we are making.
Some of my goals for this year are to become a more active and avid reader, manage school and my extracurricular activities, and better my writing skills. Each year I begin with pretty much the same goals, however, after a while my motivation begins to dwindle. I guess in its own sense keeping myself motivated is also another goal. Personally I believe that one of our biggest set backs is procrastination. With any goal you need good time management, therefore, it reigns supreme over the other goals we set. In order to achieve the goals I set a I will have to work on both motivation and time management. By doing so I can relieve myself of some of the stress that comes with setting yourself at a higher standard.
One of my long term goals is to become a surgeon. In order to do so I have to work on achieve the goals I have set now because those in one way or another play a role. When you look at a long term goal you should imagine it as smaller goals that are kind of like pieces to the puzzle. So some of the piece on the edge would be to achieve the goals from above, getting good grades, and learning things about this career path. Then some of the inner pieces would be to get into a good four year university, take pre-med courses, and graduating. From there the last pieces to the puzzle would be to complete medical school and find a residency program at a hospital. In the end you are left with a completed puzzle, also known your long time goal. By breaking them up in this matter it becomes manageable.

  1. I 100% agree with your goals of conquering time management and self motivation. I also have problems with this and believe that it could help with all of our stress. Your goals are great and I wish you the best of luck on becoming a surgeon!

  2. I completely agree with everything you said about your goals. My favorite part of your blog is the expression of how short term goals are like pieces of puzzle and how you go in depth about it. I also agree that a lot of problems have to do with procrastination but being organize with time helps our stress.I hope your goals are accomplished and you end up being a surgeon!!!;)
