My Goals

My Goals

It is crucial that students set their own goals so they have something to strive and work for without being on overload so much. If students have their own goals, they work towards their own goal because it urges us to reach higher and work harder. Goals are like a waypoint, it tells you where to get to, without these goals, we don't know what we have to do and therefore we strive at our least unsure of what to do. Reaching your goals also make you happy knowing you hit your own standards and knowing that the work paid off.
My goals this year is to reduce procrastination to the least and achieve a passing grade of an A or B in each class, regardless of Honors or regular. I always manage to have low grades in the beginning of each school year since I slack on homework and time management. Some people in this class are also taking an AP class which is very time consuming, and thus we lose time for other classes. I will try to finish my homework ahead before it's due this year so I have nothing to worry about. Getting a passing grade of an A or B will ensure that I have a good GPA since many of my classes are honors and 3 other band classes which is an easy A, so focusing on academics this year is my priority.
My goal in the future is to attend a 4-year college and major in music. In order to do that, I must first focus on academics and study, and worry about Music later since it is one of my strengths. Academics are the only thing holding me back from having as much fun as I can since it takes time away but is worth it in the end. Focusing on both at the same time will make sure I can reach this goal and be successful.

  1. Raphael, I agree when you say "Goals are like a waypoint, it tells you where to get to, without these goals, we don't know what we have to do and therefore we strive at our least unsure what to do." When I read this, it spoke to me and it is completely true. When I was in elementary school I had no goals, I just drifted along and did my minimum because there was no competition for me. When I got to Mayfair I met up with some old friends who "reignited" my fire. This allowed me to go above and beyond any of my normal work. Also, I also want the goal of always having and A or B in all of my classes because I too suffer from the Asian F.

PS: I wasn't trying to sound narcissistic when I said that I had no competition, we had 11 six graders in our school and only one I consider my intellectual equal, she just never argued about it.

  2. I don’t personally think of academics as something to hold you back but something that can boost you further along to your goals but I think your goal in music perfectly fits you as that’s what’s i have always seen you doing.
