It's imperative that people maintain goals, and set a certain bar to strive for, and potentially exceed. These goals are mental motivators, urging both our minds and bodies into attaining success, and reaching for what we desire the most. By giving an end destination, objectives such as getting an A in a math class, or scoring a home run in a game provides further incentive to working hard and putting our best effort forwards. Without realistic goals, we would be aimless, lost in a sea of boredom and repetition within our lives, whereas with goals, we take an initiative, and find the reason behind the madness, and discover why we function they way we do.
For this year in particular, my goal is to time manage, and find the balance between academics, athletics, and a life outside of that realm (including friends, extracurricular, and clubs). It's difficult maintaining that holy trinity, so it's essential that I find the time to handle all that I can. Procrastination can also lead to my frequent stress, and if I'm able to eliminate that from my life this year, I know I would accomplish something that I wouldn't have previously thought is feasible. I would also like to maintain solid A's in both semesters, but mainly, to have a grip on everything in my life, and ensure myself that everything will be okay in the end.
When it comes to education, careers, and all things future oriented, I would like to attend a university in California, and hopefully tackle a major in the medical or engineering field. My main school of choice is UCLA, but I'd hope to attend any UC in general! To have the occupation of a doctor, or a well deserved scientific occupation would be my ultimate end goal, being that I want to help contribute to the world, whether by directly assisting people in need, or through medicine and research. People that are in need must be tended to somehow, and I believe that through these universities, hard work, and dedication, I'd be able to help them in anyway that I can. I'd also prove to myself that I'm capable of handling such a strenuous journey, and see the end result of the effort that I put forth in every choice that I made.
I can relate to the part where most stress comes from procrastination. I can also agree where I need to find a balance between academics and athletics because having both at the same time can be sometimes tough on a person. Overall though, I thought your goals were great and I could relate to most things in your post :)
